Welcome to my blog "Ginni for President"! My name is Ginevra, an Italian student passionate about international politics. During my exchange year in the United States, I participated in a mock election campaign in my government class, an experience that inspired me to launch this blog and website. The name "Ginni for President" is a playful yet powerful reflection of my belief that young people, no matter where they come from, can engage with, and influence the political world. While I won't become president, this blog is my way of taking what I learned in the U.S. and bringing it back to Italy. It’s about leading a conversation, sparking curiosity, and encouraging my peers to think critically about international politics. In this unique space, dedicated to young Italians who, like me, want to delve into a crucial topic: the American elections, I will share insights and analyses of U.S. elections and interview American citizens and experts. This subject, often the domain of insiders and politicians outside the U.S., deserves our attention. Having lived and studied in the United States for a year, I’ve seen how each electoral event is met with fervent anticipation and involvement. In Italy, however, especially among young people, there is a tendency to focus mainly on the more superficial aspects of these global events. Today, I am excited to launch this blog at a key moment: the eve of the first—and possibly last—debate between the two candidates for the White House, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Joe Biden's presidency is nearing its end, and the elections represent a political clash destined to influence not only the United States but the entire world. What developments can we expect from these elections? And how crucial is it for us young Italians to go beyond the surface and observe events more closely? Through "Ginni for President," I aim to bridge the gap between Italian and American political cultures. My mission is to create an informative, engaging, and interactive platform that not only educates but also inspires young Italians to take an active interest in global politics and the democratic process.
